Defense Against Foreign Threats (D.A.F.T.) - REPORT
WELCOME TO THE ASTEROID BELT, THESE ARE THE BADLANDS BETWEEN THE SOL AND ANDROMEDA SYSTEM.
NOW DOWN TO BRASS TACKS, BELOW IS THE DAFT STORY ON WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR.……………
What we've discovered is that the source of the threat in the Asteroid Belts is a breakaway rogue AI that was hosted by one of our Corporate AI controlled mining rigs. This rig appeared to malfunction and went offline, all crew members seemed to disappear and the Mining Rig went dark. All attempts to contact the crew failed, and remote booting the mining rig back online was also unsuccessful! After 72 hours, we sent a maintenance crew, they 1st checked the Mining Rigs Computer Core Logs, they were intrigued by by they found in the BOOT logs, they had a good laugh and transmitted the logs back to the corporate HQ:

Then the maintenance crew went dark. 48 hours later a mining refinery, chip fabrication and weapons depot stations on the outer belt went offline and dark. All communications and attempts to remote connect failed.
The corporate fleet that was stationed in a nearby outpost was sent in to investigate, since there's been a lot of trouble with belt pirates over the years (... that have eaten in the corporate profits!) the corporation had a small fleet of battleships stationed there. Expecting some small resistance, the fleet went in with only forward cannons armed. The fleet got hammered and only one badly damaged battle cruiser the "Arizona" got away, the rest were destroyed or captured and subsequently "infected".
The reports came back of a ferocious battle, with an insane fury that has never been seen before! AI / Human Cyborg pirates, half alive, half dead, half robot, had attacked the fleet. The ships and crew they capture are implanted with AI chips that wired them up to the Alpha AI Master that is now controlling all life, man and machine in the mining colony of the Asteroid belts.
The horrifying tales are being reported back of these Zombie AI controlled pirates are harvesting dead bodies, implanting invasive AI Bio-interfaces, then re-animating the corpses to be new soldiers in their army. These pirate AI/Zombie soldiers are all being controlled by AI Alpha motherships, which are now being built at a rapid pace in the captured factories on the outer rims of the Asteroid Belt. We would have to destroy, this is your core mission!
They continue to mine the asteroid belts for resources, salvage old spaceships, debris and any materials they get a hold of to build their insidious fleet. They have a rag-tag look, but are lethally dangerous, with no ethics or morals.
It's clear that battle cruiser and fleet ships are very vulnerable to the AI pirate attack, since because of their large surface area, AI Piercer Bots fly in at incredible speed to drive a hole in the hull of the battle-ship, once the hull is breached, the Piercer Bots rapidly wire-tap into the ships communications system and take over the ship flight control, weapons systems and life support and then establish a connection to a AI Alpha mothership, who then quickly move to cut off the life support systems, thus killing the crew and taking control of the ship, which they then quickly turn on the other battleships in the fleet.
This gives the AI army a huge advantage, enabling them to take-out large fleet ships.
The corporate high command back on Earth has devised a new strategy, this is where you come in my friend, instead of sending in a large fleet, it's sending in squadrons on small fighters that can evade the Piercer Bots to strike at the AI Alpha Motherships. Once an Alpha mothership is destroyed, everything under its control is released.
